MIRROR KNOW has developed an eight-week Coaching for people with chronic pain, you can learn to understand your pain better and more competent to deal with them. This is the fourth part. The other parts can be found here.

Happy in spite of pain – under this Heading, published by Dutch researchers recently presented the results of a study that they were able to show that the well-being of people with chronic pain to increase, if you are completing a Training in positive Thinking. We want to be able to in this Coaching, and you have two Exercises to help you increase your optimism to continue and learn more compassion for themselves.

Try both Exercises and then decide whether both matches or not. Because of the insubordination rule last week you have of course always the option to ‘opt-out’ tips to help you. Read the tasks and try these on for about three days in the coming week.

Three good things of the day

You can think of in the morning, three good things to look forward to this day. It can be a Meeting with a girlfriend or a friend, an hour with a book in the evening, but it can also be something to look forward to in the near future, for example, a holiday, a Celebration or a visit to a sporting event or a concert. Think of these little pleasures in the course of the day, from time to time and pay attention to how their mood changed.

Important: you can also pay attention to beautiful things, in a further future, are, or could, such a thought decorating a good relationship, to love, to an encounter with a person you don’t even know. Also, such a positive and longing thoughts may reinforce the optimism.

Yourself to be a good friend

You practice “self-compassion”. This means that you are trying to be friendly, lenient and nice to – how to it is otherwise rather good friends, if they experience a crisis. Try this week to accompany themselves on the same friendly and compassionate nature: If something does not manage to cheer you up. If Fears, reassure them with a friendly phrase such as “The will”. You ask – as in other Parts of the pain-coaching -what is good for you just what your body needs and wants.

Important: Practice this friendly attitude regardless of their pain. Try one of the self-compassion as a basic attitude about the whole day to maintain, even if you are well.

Both Exercises will help also, of course, people who have no pain, with their life to better cope. For people with pain optimistic thoughts and self-compassion are an especially good help. Quasi “gang” are here again the contact with the own body and the proximity to strengthened themselves.
