Metabolism of drugs to alleviate mental illness

According to a large Swedish study medicines, which are prescribed for high blood pressure, Diabetes or high cholesterol could help, even in the case of mental disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or psychosis: patients that these medications, required fewer hospitalizations due to psychiatric symptoms, and were injured less often.

Therefore, they are ideal candidates for an advanced application."

For the study, data from 142.691 people were illnesses with serious psychological, the drugs against hypertension, Diabetes, or high cholesterol values, revenue, and evaluated. The investigated drugs have known effects on the Central nervous system, however, the mechanism of action is not clarified yet.
