Alexa Chung Posts Hospital Selfie After Endometriosis Diagnosis

Back in February, Alexa Chung announced the launch of her very first eyewear collection, which is obviously epic news for her fashion devotees. The not-so-epic thing? She’s been privately been dealing with endometriosis – an incredibly painful disorder in which the tissue that usually lives inside of your uterus grows outside of it –and now she’s been hospitalised because of it.

The 35-year-old shared an Insta post today, opening up about her battle with the disease:

“I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as a member, but here I am,” she captioned the pic, adding the hashtags, “#endometriosisclub #partytime#woohoo#lifelongmembership#sorryifyouhaveittooitsucks#endometriosisawareness.”

And while she didn’t elaborate on her journey to diagnosis, she also posted a snap of her OOTD: a hospital gown.

“This sexy lil’ number was completely open in the back and made from the finest printed cotton poplin. Ties and trims are grosgrain ribbon. One size fits all. Stunning bracelet made from digital print paper and Sellotape (every bangle is personalised to order.)”

Her post, which has since been liked more than 25,000 times, prompted fellow club members to reach out with words of support.

“Worst club, coolest girls,” one woman wrote.

Another added: “Welcome to the club, you are by far our most stylish member.”

Others simply praised her for raising awareness of the condition: “Thankyou for speaking about it, it’s still a subject that lots of people don’t know about,” one comment read.

Alexa is the latest in a long line of celebs who have been plagued by endo. Late last year Emma Watkins (aka, the yellow wiggle) revealed that she’d been unable to tour due to her symptoms, while radio host Mel Greig shared shocking pictures of herself during a flare-up. Actress Lena Dunham even had the word ‘sick’ tattooed on the back of her neck – a homage to living with the condition.

While it’s never nice to see anyone suffering, we’re loving that so many celebrities are being candid about their health issues. And in turn giving hope to others that may be struggling.
